DESIGN CITY VIENNA
The early 20th century was still strongly influenced by the great Josef Hoffmann. In 1913 he was one of the co-founders of the Austrian Werkbund, which was devoted to the crafts and informing taste. Oswald Haerdtl as well as Hoffmanns student Otto Prutscher were two of the key designers in the first half of the century. Hans Hollein, Roland Rainer and Hermann Czech dominated the period after 1960, sometimes with radical positions.
