Classics OSWALD HAERDTL Martelé Bowl, early 1930s
In the early 1930s, when this bowl was created, Oswald Haerdtl was running Josef Hoffmann's studio. The close collaboration is reflected here, however Haerdtl brings a new dynamic into play: The densely positioned fluted grooves and ridges radiate in a flickering shimmer. Similar fluting is to be found on his 1950s cutlery (Cutlery, Flatware 192).
