CHARLOTTE TALBOT
High Plate
Charlotte TalbotDesigned 2012
Two high arches of thick, grooved silver wire support a shallow, round bowl of stone-gray HI MACS (Corian). It is surmounted by a semicircular wire handle that attaches to the bottom of the bowl. VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2012 asked the French designer Charlotte Talbot, then working in Konstatin Grcic's studio, to reinterpret the term "silverware" and make it accessible to the younger generation. The result was a series of five graceful vessels that form a table landscape in the manner of baroque tableware. High Plate - and the other four objects - were created by joining a thick wire, from an old drawing iron with a star-shaped cross-section, with the innovative hi-tech material HI-MACS (acrylic glass and natural stone).
