GREGOR EICHINGER
Cakes box with glass container set

Gregor Eichinger
Designed 2012

In search of an idea for a new silver creation, the Austrian architect and designer visited the archives of the Wiener Silber Manufactur. In an old product catalog, he found numerous names no longer in use today, such as "Jourservice" or "Tischfeu". Finally, the name "Cakesdose" inspired him to design a container for cookies. The art of napkin folding formerly cultivated at the imperial court in Vienna provided the model for the slightly bulging outer walls, which close with the help of tiny magnets. The bottom is decorated with a mysterious engraved feather, which reminds Gregor Eichinger of an episode from Mexican crime history. A black overlaid glass box serves as a container for the cookies.
