THE WAY IS THE GOAL

The Vision

In the beginning was a vision of an object full of expressivity and character, radiating and gleaming in complete composure, heavy in the hand and yet full of life. It doesn’t betray any sign of the precision crafting involved in its manufacture, yet there is a sense of coherence that makes people feel satisfied: including us, the manufacturers, and everyone who knows our products.

The Process

To translate a vision of an object into reality is a process that we love for its own sake. It proceeds from a design on paper to the tangible object, from a flat sheet of metal to three-dimensionality. We work with the original models and tools, in combination with a new kind of material, a particularly high-quality silver alloy.

The Metamorphosis

Silver is a soft metal but not a soft material. In order to wrest forms from it, we expose it to heat and acid, treat it with rollers, punches, hammers and cutters – that is one side of the process. The other side is mental work, combined with a great deal of feeling. A magical metamorphosis is achieved when all the components harmonise.
